Ferrari Gourmet – Quick dinner

In jangeo on April 17, 2009 at 7:09 PM

A few nights back dad treated me to dinner after helping him with two very important things: setting up his AutoExpreso (like NY's EZPass) sticker onto his car windshield and showing him how to update a file from his flashdrive  onto his laptop. You know, important things that merit a meal. 😉

Living in Isla Verde is nice in that you can usually walk to a variety of restaurants. Walk? Yes. A foreign concept to many Ricans on the island. Out of dad's usual stomping grounds, we ended up walking to Ferrari Gourmet, a family-owned, Argentinian restaurant specializing in traditional Argentian beef entrees and pizzas. I remember eating there a few times before and recalled decent food at good prices. Pizza is actually how Ferrari Gourmet started when they wanted to make a great Focaccia using a Bread Machine and ended up making pizza dough. Or so the story goes.

La Tasca de Yiyo

Sorry I've been M.I.A. but my camera broke and am still waiting for a new one. And who the heck wants to read a food blog with no food pics? I sure as hell don't. Which is why I was missing for a while. And although my camera phone sucks, really sucks, I decided to say screw it and proceed to take some pics and write about today's late lunch.

Danny’s International in Condado

In jangeo on January 8, 2009 at 12:04 AM

A few nights ago, after watching SEVA VIVE @ Fine Arts Cafe in Hato Rey with my dad and his friends, we went to grab a bite to eat. Dad's friends wanted pizza and were jonesing for Via Appia, an always fun and yummy spot we discussed a while back. Via Appia was a tad crowded for a Sunday, and by crowded we mean packed to the rims. So we ended up going across the street to Danny's International on Ashford Avenue in Condado. Dad's friend said their pizza was just as good, if not better.

Oh really? Interesting. I'm always up for a challenge.

Check out a new website dedicated to partying, el jangeo, and all things fun around the entire island of Puerto Rico. Clubs, Bars, Lounges, Pub, promotional events…. you name it, they’ve got it going on. Just register – it’s FREE – and take a look around to see what’s going on around town.

The handy dandy calendar on the left of their page gives you a list of events by day, which makes it so simple to find out what you can do on any given day. Also, if you email them, you can inform them of an event and they will most likely add it to the calendar. They even go to most of these parties, hang out, take pics, and go to another one.

Two young entrepreneurs, Willy & Sylved, have taken upon themselves to develop from the ground up. They’re basically Party Reporters. Hard job, right? Uh huh! But they’re very hard at work to keep all the partyceros informed as to what, when, and where. Visit ASAP and go have a blast. Support Puerto Rico’s homegrown businesses and have fun at the same time. What can be better than that?!?!

Jangeo: Via Appia’s Deli

In jangeo on July 24, 2008 at 12:58 PM

New category!!!  HANGEO!!!   It’s not about cooking or rating a spot. It’s just about where we go with friends to hang out. Chances are this and all hangeos feature drinks and some moncheo. Some or most will be rated. But we won’t rate until we have a full meal there. But if it’s got some good grub and drinks and you can chill there for a while, then we’ll include it in the HANGEO category. This week el hangeo found us at…

Via Appia’s Deli. This Italian-inspired spot has been in Condado, on Ashford Avenue, since we were little kids. More than 20 years old, this place is definitely a hangout spot.
